Water Wise Plants - Sample-ishous!

We've had super feedback about our blog - keep it coming - I'd especially like fresh ideas to keep this interesting, informative and slightly off-the-wall.

Thanks to one of the totally awesome people that commented, I hereby present the water wise blog.

Retailers: remember to ask for 'Water Wise' stickers that will help you to promote this important advantage!

Let's get the ball rolling with some juicy succulents!

Lampranthus Purple in 15cm pots - R10.00 and buds to follow

Fantabulous Delosperma cooperi - just about always in flower 15cm pots @ R12.35
and
Malephora crocea - another almost perpetually flowering Vygie - 12.5cm pots @ R7.15

Lampranthus Red and Orange 15cm pots @ R12.35

All the forms of Spekboom get 'spekvet' even in the harshest conditions.

These prostrate forms of Portulacaria make brilliant groundcovers - see how they look in our little 'Sepkboom' bed (below) 15cm pots @ R15.00.
The bed that nobody bothers about, but which always looks lush...

Here's the dinkum 'Spekboom': Portulacaria afra in 15cm pots @ R15.00. Another of the plants you can much on to horrify and entertain your clients. Tastes quite nice if you like acidic flavours!

Everyone loves Plectranthus neochilus! Ask about our NEW cost-saving bulk tray! These 4kg bags @ R7.35

Ruschia radicans has seriously pretty foliage: click on the image for a larger view. 15cm pots @ R12.35

So you already knew that succulents are pretty drought tolerant? Well, there's lots more to come!

Helichrysum petiolare 4kg @ R7.60 - a wonderfully tough pioneer plant, that's also pretty.

You don't get Asparagus ferns prettier than this! Asparagus 'Mazeppa'  @ R9.35. They look so soft, but they're the last word in toughness!

Another plant that one has to love! Carissa 'Green Carpet' in 4kg bags @ R10.95. Great for dry conditions.

Dymondia - the ideal flat ground cover for mass plantings and between paving: 4kg bags are just R7.60 - also on the Cape Water wise list!

The Polygala of many names: 'Petite butterfly', 'Southern Shores' and the name given to it by the man who found it growing between rocks right on the coastline: 'Coastal Shores'. Whatever you call it, it's a gardening must: 15cm pots @ R15.35

... so you thought you wouldn't see Jasmines until the Spring? Think again - just look at the buds covering drought tolerant Jasminum angulare! 15cm pots @ R9.95

Chrsanthemoides incana is a smaller version of Bitou with silvery leaves: 4kg bags @ R10.95

Once they're established in the garden, Ansiodonteas are drought tolerant: 15cm pots @ R9.95

Here's one for the landscapers - where Carissa 'Green Carpet' won't grow, hardy Maytenus procumbens certainly will! The flowers are honey-scented and the fruits attract birds. 4kg bags @ R13.45

Helichrysum argyrophyllum: the silveriest of silver ground covers - ready to be yours in 4kg bags @ R9.35

We'll round off the Water Wise collection with these:

Unusual Cussonia thyrsiflora doesn't really look like a Kiepersol at all! The Scehfflera-like foliage and it's adaptability to sun or shade conditions make it a super foliage shrub or pot plant (even indoors) 4kg bags @ R21.65

Schotia brachypetala (Boerboon) and Harpephyllum caffrum (Natal Plum) are drought tolerant winners - 4kg bags @ R18.10 - just two of the lovely trees in our wide selection - check out the 'Top Trees' list for a selection of our finest trees - and talk to me if you're looking for even better prices on a bulk purchase!

And then there's Rhus crenata (left): In nature it grows on the driest sand dunes 4kg bags @ R13.70. At right is Dodonaea angustifolia - the sand olive - which thrives just about anywhere: 4kg bags @ R11.70

Now for something completely different: Calling all landscapers! Who will make me an offer for a nice big batch of Selago 'Magic Mauve'? The plants are looking great, but they really want planting out more than anything else! Take the batch and get a bargain!

Are you down here at the bottom of the page? Wow! you looked at ALL the pics! Thanks for that! There'll be more soon...

Till then - have a great week
Andrea
