Sharing experiences

Its wonderful when clients share their experience of our plants. Corrine, the 'Chelsea Gardener' who has many successful projects in the George area says this:

Aptenia cordifolia

'Thought I would mention that Aptenias are absolutely amazing.  I planted some in the MOST terrible soil in retaining blocks, north facing, baking heat.   They did not get ANY water during our drought ( homeowners in UK) and are still growing really well.

Planted some in another retaining wall in better soil, oct 2009 and they have covered the wall.  I have also planted them under the deck at the views hotel where they get no sun and they are great and a client has them under a wooden house, no sun or water - they don't bloom too well but cover really well

Another FANTASTIC plant and so little used  I believe is the  Otholobium sericeum  I have used it on the coast in the most violent conditions and inland and  it just grows and grows.   You can promote it with confidence, it will grow sooooo well in CapeTown and PE and I  really hope you can get some going again in the nursery. (Andrea says: with wonderful feedback like that we'll just have to!)
Otholobium sericeum

Barleria purple prince or tickled pink is a wonderful choice for dunes - used them at  The Waves and have a lovely retaining wall planted with them - will send pic.
